Avoid Excess Mental Stress
An over view:
Excessive mental stress has been one of the most significant contributing factors for gambling. It is especially common among the teenagers and the adults who are overwhelmed by the challenges of day-to-day living in the modern competitive world and resort to some kind addiction as a means to escape. In the initial stage it is fun and entertainment but later on down the line it becomes a compulsive activity slowly without letting the victim even know that he has been fallen prey. Studies conducted in this regard also concluded that many a times gambling itself has been associated with impulsive mental disorder. This fact links that compulsive gambling can be related to stress related factors. It is also seen that the gambling preoccupation, urge, and activity increase during periods of excessive stress. Thus it can be concluded that the problems that arise as a result of the gambling lead to an intensification of the gambling behavior. This stress at times may even lead to loss of work due to absences in order to gamble, defaulting on debts and other financial responsibilities, disrupted family relationships, borrowing money from illegal sources, forgery, fraud, embezzlement, and income tax evasion.
How to avoid mental stress:
Stress in clinical language is described as any physical or psychological stimulus resulting in the production of mental tension or physiological reactions. One of the most significant and primary steps to avoid or mitigate the effects of stress is to know where it is coming from. Unless and until the source is identified, it is not possible to think of a way on how to deal with it. However it is equally important not only to deal with it but also to deal with it properly. Those responses to stress if overdone can yield to more damaging results. It may lead to common habits like indulgence in excessive alcohol intake or gambling, which can result to further negative implications. All the response should be something sustainable that can be regularly done and in right frequency and basically safe and beneficial. Self evaluation of lifestyle like eating habits, physical activities, etc. and having a positive outlook in life, excellent time management, and balancing ones priorities are what most doctors would say some of the best ways to avoid stress and prevent surmountable loss of energy and vitality.
