Baldness occurs rather frequently, among both males and females, as well as in some rare cases among children. Let’s take a closer look at baldness and baldness treatment information.

The very first thing you should do, if you think you are suffering from baldness, is get a professional opinion. As with any serious condition, you will want to be sure that you have a diagnosis before you attempt to treat your condition.

The occurrence of baldness can happen in one of many different ways. The most common type of baldness produces hair loss on the scalp. Another type of baldness causes you to lose hair on other parts of your body.

The most common form of baldness is alopecia. However, there are three types of alopecia:

1. Alopecia areata (patchy hair loss)
2. Alopecia totalis (total hair loss)
3. Alopecia universalis (hair loss on scalp and body)

Once your doctor makes a clear diagnosis of what type of baldness you suffer from, you can then make an informed decision about what type of baldness treatment to use. Different kinds of baldness may call for varying treatments.

After you make an appointment with a dermatologist and he makes the diagnosis, you can discuss possible baldness treatment solutions with him. There are basically four kinds of baldness treatments:

1. Prescription strength medication
2. Medicated scalp injections
3. Topical ointments (shampoos, hair creams, etc.)
4. Electronic hair stimulation

Each of these types of baldness treatments are completely different. They each require different levels of involvement. For example, electronic scalp stimulation would probably require you to make frequent visits to your dermatologist’s office, whereas prescription medication would simply require a monthly trip to the pharmacy to fill your prescription.

As with any illness, you should consult your dermatologist to discover what would be the best form of treatment for your baldness. If you choose not to seek professional medical assistance, there are some natural remedies that might help your baldness as well.
