How To Learn More About Pain Management After Surgery
I guess I will start out saying if you are reading this article you probably have had surgery of some type or know someone who has had pain or is now experience pain from a surgical procedure. Believe me I know first hand about managing pain from surgery. I have had surgeries that include knee surgery, gallbladder surgery, removing my appendix,Thor acotamy, getting my tonsils removed as an adult, surgery on my wrist from getting pushed in ditch that had a lot of broken glass in it as a child, and the latest surgery was the lap band surgery I have had. Here are some ways I have managed my pain from those surgeries. The way I hurt me knee is I was visiting my grandmother in Florida. Of course I stayed in the pool to long and got sunburned pretty bad. Pain management is something that everyone should learn more about.
Well my mom told me to take a vinegar bath. We did not know that the tub was very slippery. As soon as I got in the tub I slipped and smashed my knee into the side of the tub. The knee cap came out immediately. The pain was unbearable. I knew I had to try and calm down until I got to the hospital or it would be very difficult for me to manage the pain from the fall. Well to make a long story short I was taken by ambulance to the hospital and of course the knee cap was out of place. Because we were from out of state the hospital basically told us we had to go to the hospital in the town we lived. Well that was going to be about a 12 hour drive. I pretty much was knocked out for the whole trip because of the pain. I guess it isn’t to hard to manage pain when your knocked out.
Of course my parents had to drive straight through and were totally exhausted from the trip. I had to wait for the swelling to go down and then have surgery to put my knee cap back in place. I learned to manage the pain by taking physical therapy. I was on pain medication for a while but knew I couldn’t stay on the medication so I really decided to be tough and do my best to get better. After going through that much pain I knew I would be able to manage pretty much any pain I might have in the future. So if you have had any type of surgery and may be having to go through a second one try to remember how you managed your pain from the first surgery you had. I know to stay calm when your in a lot of pain is very difficult but if you try to stay calm it will help to reduce your pain. Pain management can help you from now until you are much older, so be proud that you found some relief.
