One of the biggest reasons for baldness is said to be hereditary. However, there are many more people out there who suffer from hair loss and have no history of baldness in their family genes. Regardless of the “why” of your baldness, you want to know how to treat it.

Baldness is a big problem for men and women alike. There are so many treatments available today that it can get quite confusing trying to decide which one is the best one, and which one you should use.

Baldness is a condition that can be treated with electrical stimulation. While this is not always the most desired method of treatment, electrical stimulation of the scalp is used quite a bit to stimulate the nerves and blood circulation to the scalp.

This type of electrical treatment, called ElectroTricho Genesis (or ETG), is only given in clinics. It is not a total cure for baldness. However, it has shown great promise in stopping hair loss and aiding in hair regrowth.

Many people will tell you that nutrition plays a large role in treating baldness, and they’re right. Eating a properly balanced diet every day is key to healthy hair and scalp. Your body needs just the right mixture of nutrients, vitamins and minerals to maintain proper scalp and hair health. A nutritionist can run a series of tests to determine what deficiencies your body has so you can take supplements to boost your body’s immune system.

Lots of people who have suffered with hair loss swear by over the counter treatments, like Rogaine. While these medicated shampoos are helpful for those who are experiencing hair loss or thinning, they probably won’t be very helpful in treating total baldness.

Dermatologists may also be able to provide you with prescription-strength medications to treat your baldness. In many cases, this type of treatment has great results in hair regrowth and strengthening.

Others opt for hair transplants. While this method of treatment is costly and time-consuming, it is probably by far one of the only treatments that brings about positive results and happier people. Hair transplants simply move healthy hair from an inconspicuous spot on the scalp to where the hair is thinning.
