Maternity Calender
The pregnancy calendars are based on the 40 week pregnancy. It is a record of all the changes within the mother and the baby during theses 40 weeks. Many couples spend several hours in studying the pregnancy calendar to monitor the changes within the mother’s body and development of the baby. The pregnancy calendar is very useful to know the stages of development of the baby at any given week.
During the 1st to 4th week of pregnancy, the conception occurs and the egg is fertilized. From 5th to 8th week, there is development of the baby. The baby’s heart starts to beat by the 6th week. The arms and the legs of the baby start to develop by 8th week.
By the 10th week, the baby starts the movements inside the uterus. The mother doesn’t feel the movements. But the baby is moving. During 13th to 14th week, the sex of the baby can be determined through an ultra-sound. The baby’s heartbeat can be heard during this time. Baby’s bones start to become hard. The mother can notice the movements of the baby within the uterus. At this stage, the babies can suck their thumb.
During 17th to 20th week, baby’s organs start to develop. The sex of the baby can be positively identified. The body begins to get covered with fine hair. Between 21st to 24th weeks, there is a deposition of fat on baby’s body to cope up the changes in temperature during and after birth. During 24th to 28th week, the baby can hear the sounds. He/she can sense the lightness and darkness. Baby’s movements are decreased at this time because the uterus becomes crowded.
Baby’s eyes start to move during 29th to 32nd week. The size of the head begins to catch up with the size of the body. The brain develops rapidly. All the major organs except the lungs are completely developed by the 32nd week. The baby begins to open and close the eyes during 33rd to 36th week. Baby’s fingernails begin to grow long. During 37th to 40th week, baby’s lung is developed. The baby is ready for birth.
