Sharing care during maternity period is the most important and notable factor. Every woman after the confirmation of pregnancy can have their own choice of doctors for review of medical checkups. Sharing of maternity care include both prenatal and postnatal care.
Women in rural areas are denied of prenatal care as they live in remote areas where obstetricians are not available. Continuation of care will be lacking in such situations. Although many women believe that competent care can be offered only by the family physicians.

Physicians interested in shared care thereby start communicating and arranging for gynecologists or delivery physicians. The significant factors and early out comes can be assessed only through regular checkups and intervals. According to the reports shared care extends better maternity care for everyone.
Maternity services will be improved and focused when it is shared. Better relationship and sensitivity approach will render quality medical services to the patient. Duplication of information and errors due to insufficient communication will be completely avoided.
