Introduction: Anti depressants are some of the drugs that are used to relieve the human beings out of depression. There are two types of depressions one is the normal depression and the other is the clinical depression. The normal depression is the one which we face every day. This is generally due to the wrong things that happen in our life. The other is the clinical depression. In this case it has to be cured only by the drugs also called as the antidepressants

Some of the types are as follows:

SSRI (selective Serotonin Reuptake inhibitors)

These are called as the selective because they act only upon the neuro transmitter serotonin. These are generally used to regulate the mood and the energy levels. There are side effects of these medicines. These mainly include the nausea, dry mouth, nervousness, insomnia, sexual problems and headache. They are namely escitalopram of the brand Lexapro, Citalopram of the brand Celexa, flextime of the brand prozac, paroxetine of the brand Paxil, Sertyraline of the brand Zoloft.

Tricyclic antidepressants: These are the drugs that act on two different Neuro transmitters namely the Serotonin and the norepinephrine. With these medicines it sometimes happens that they make affect on the other chemicals of the body. They include namely the venlafaxine of the brand Effexor, Nefazodone of the brand Serzone, Bupropion of the brand wellburtin, Mirtazapine of the brand Remeron, trazodone of the brand Desyrel.

MAOI Antidepressants:

These are the anti depressant medicines that are not used that commonly. This is because these medicines are difficult to use for some of the patients. When one uses these medicines they have to follow some strict food regulation and adhere to it. These drugs are generally used when the other type of drugs are not effective. There are also some side effects associated with the intake of such medicines. They include weakness, dizziness, Headache and tremors. They namely include the following drugs, Phenelzine of the brand Nardil, and tranycypromine of the brand Parnete.

Whatever may be the type of anti depressant that one uses, it should be taken only when prescribed by the physician. Also the amount of dose of these anti depressants should be perfectly understood because over dose can cause major problems in life and also can sometimes result in death.
