What Are The Causes Of Male Infertility

Many causes exist as a reason for male infertility from just an impairment to being sterile. Some of the most common causes are:

* A malfunction in the sperm delivery

* Abnormal sperm count

* Abnormal sperm production

* Abnormal sperm functioning

Any of these might result in impaired sperm mobility or impaired sperm count or an impaired ability in which to fertilize the female's egg. As such there are certain factors and conditions that are related to the above impairments such as, environmental exposure, general health or lifestyle.

Since the sperm have to reach the egg, an adequate amount must reach the female and then the sperm must be able to further reach the egg and fertilize it. However, there are times when a mans sperm die off before they get all the way to the females egg or they sperm might be malformed.

Possible causes of a low sperm count might be:

* Excessive alcohol

* Infected semen

* Very frequent intercourse

* Smoking at least 20 cigarettes a day

* Heat can reduce sperm production.

If the male has too low of a sperm concentration then there will be less chance of fertilization. There could be genetic reasons for this or there might be reasons that remain unsolved.

There are sometimes sperm that are of the wrong shape and or structure or have an impaired ability to move. The consequence of these impairments are that the sperm can not move in an accurate manner or quickly enough to actually make it to the egg and effect fertilization.

There are other sperm abnormalities such as:

* Complete failure to produce sperm

* Varicose vein in the scrotum

* Infections

* Disorder of the reproductive chromosomes

* Male hypogonadism

* Undescended testicles

There are reasons why the sperm aren't delivered properly such as:

* Semen enters the bladder rather than flowing out the normal passageway

* Blockage

* missing tubes

* No fluid

* Hypospadias

* Antibodies that target sperm and weaken or disable them

But the delivery might not be an issue there might be general health or his lifestyle issues such as:

* Emotional stress

* Age

* Deficiencies in nutrients or malnutrition

* Obesity

* Alcohol

* Drugs

* Severe injury

* Major surgery

* Cancer

* Cancer treatment

* Certain conditions or diseases

Further environmental exposure issues might be the cause such as:

* Men who smoke might have a lower sperm count

* Substance abuse

* Pesticides

* Chemicals

* Frequent use of saunas or hot tubs

* High exposure to lead

Some additional reasons for infertility include the following:

* Tight fitting pants or underwear

* Prolonged sitting,

* A diet low in folic acid or low in lycopene

* Excessive exercise

* Anabolic steroids

While there are many possibilities that lead to male infertility, there are some things that can be done to reduce the risk of infertility occurring like eating healthy foods and enriching the diet with vitamin C and not drinking alcohol on a daily basis. Make an attempt to learn about the food you eat and avoid foods that contain preservatives and artificial sweeteners.

The best thing you can do for yourself is keep your body functioning in the healthiest manner possible while avoiding some of the things listed here in order to help you with any issues of male infertility.
